Painting fun

We had a simple, but very educational, painting activity yesterday in which I gave Lella a thick and a thin brush to paint with. The idea was to paint stripes from the one end of the paper to the other, like in writing. There she practised #crossing the midline (the right hand over to the left side of the body), a skill necessary for writing. We also worked on some #language skills: thick vs thin(opposites, colours, prepositions etc)
I then showed her the "mirror" technique, when you fold the paper in half and only paint one side, then close it, rub it and when you open it, the other side reflects the painted side, like a mirror. (#symmetry) She found this amazing, and was quite excited every time to open the page again! We did stripes at first and then she did her own creation. (#creative skills). For older kids, this activity can be very interesting to see what mirror pictures they can create with the intent to create a real picture, eg the body, a butterfly, a ball etc.
She very much enjoyed this activity, maybe because of the audience;)
