Crafts: Girl/Boy Puppets

This weeks theme at Lella's school is Clothes, so we made some puppets and dressed them according to gender. Lella is at a stage where she is very aware of this, catagorizing people (and her dolls) male or female. She made the assosiation of colours that "belongs" to them, "blue is for a boy and pink for a girl, mom!" (when pouring some colddrink for her and the cousins) For now, it is cute, so we'll leave it at that.

Anyhow, I cut the figures using wooden ones as templates, then she had to colour them first, but was not very interested in that, so mom helped. She chose the material, which I cut and she glued. (I give her a small amount of white glue in a pot and a ear bud, that way she can't use to much at a time, less mess) #fine-motor skills,#creative skills
This is such a good activity for #body image/awareness. She had to figure out where to place a shirt, pants, shoes etc. Also with the face, she actually gave the girl two mouths and when I noticed we talked about having two eyes, ears but one nose and mouth. All the while working on the #language skills and #pronunciation of words.

This was such a nice craft activity, and she can now play with the puppets, making up stories etc, #imagination.
