Wood Shavings Fun

We actually used a new pack of hamster bedding, (which you can buy at any pet shop), I suppose it is a bit softer than real wood shavings and minus the sneezes!

Baby had a turn to also feel the shavings with his feet, no hands, cause everything goes into his mouth!(he cut his 1st tooth last week) #sensory exploration.

Lella had fun scooping the shavings up with a spoon into different objects. # hand-eye coordination We talked about :

-how many spoons will fill the cup? # measuring skills

-will this cup's contents fill the bigger/smaller one? #estimation skills

She had fun with it, pretending it is tea in the cup etc. #imagination

The previous time we played with the shavings we hid some animals, and she had to search them out. She quite enjoyed this activity, finding all the animals and hiding them again for mom to find. You can use any toy/objects to hide, it sure is fun, and the more shavings, the better. Just be warned, it can get messy, so try and contain the mess by playing on a cloth you can just shake clean on better yet, play outside!
