DIY Lip gloss

My little girl(3) just loves lip gloss, problem is she will smear it everywhere and it does not last long!

Lately when I ask her what I must buy for her at the shop, she says "lippies"(lip gloss), not sweets, but it gets quite expensive the way she uses it, so I searched for a DIY lip gloss recipe, and found this one where you use petroleum oil and Kool Aid. We do not get Kool Aid here in SA, so I bought Drink-o-pop which is also a powder mix with water to get cooldrink.

So this is what you need:
- some petroleum jelly (I had the scented one, but it would probably be better to use unscented)
- powder cooldrink mix of some sort
- lip gloss containers

I melted the jelly in the microwave for about 5minutes, then divided the jelly into two and added the two different flavours, then again in the microwave for 1 minute. I used two sachets of each flavour, but could have used more because it did not have a very distinctive colour or smell, just faintly. And the strawberry one came out purple-ish and the orange one yellow-ish.

PS: It is a very hot process, so do not attempt to do it with the kids' help!

I poured it into the containers and left it to harden up again for 2 hours. Although it did not come out how I envisioned it, Lella liked it and it is definitely more frugal!
Could make cute gifts or oarty favours for little girls;)
